Get ready for cocktail-time in Closter. Whether you’re on the hunt for just the right red to serve at that special family feast, a perfect hostess gift for that last-minute holiday party, or a festive bottle of bubbly to pop on New Year’s Eve, brand new Bergen County liquor super-store Gary’s Wine & Marketplace is open and ready to serve.
The fifth location in owner Gary Fisch’s ever-growing empire (over 30 years in the spirits business!), this fine wine emporium is the latest awesome addition to the new Closter Plaza shopping center.
We just had to stop by and check the place out of course. From artisanal craft beers to cool, crisp Champagnes to world-class wines, conveniently organized by region (including Gary’s own super-affordable house label, GF, which feature hand-picked grapes from some of the world’s most prestigious vineyards), and top-shelf liquors from around the globe, Gary’s selection was large but carefully curated. We even got to treat our tastebuds to a couple of them (they’ve got a rotating selection of eight delicious samples to try daily), gratis.
Of course, you’ll want to pair your favorite bottle with something to nibble on. Good thing Gary’s has one of the largest selections of cheeses and charcuterie’s in New Jersey. We’re talking fresh-cut cheeses (over 150 of ‘em!), sliced prosciutto and salamis, gourmet sandwiches and soups, caviars, pâtés, garnishes, and much more.
We’re not wine snobs, and fortunately, neither are Gary’s staff, all of whom were super-helpful and knowledgeable when it came to our questions (and we had a lot of them). Beyond having superstar sniffers, they also pride themselves in first-class customer service, which extended outside the store when they helped us bring our bottles out to the car.
We’re drunk in love with this place already.
