Maybe your kids have already been to music camp, soccer camp, tennis camp, drama camp or good old-fashioned summer camp. Well, the best is yet to come. We’re talking about dessert camp, here. Yep, The Kake Studio—the pretty party studio opened by baking guru Kara Schnaidt of Kara Kakes in Franklin Lakes—is doing a three-day camp for kids ages 6 to 12 focused on how to make sweet treats like a pro. And if anybody is gonna’ inspire little ones with baked goods it’s Kara. The 20-something cupcake mogul has continued to grow her bakery business into a sprinkle-dotted success, and we know first-hand that she’s got the energy to keep up with a bunch of amped-up kiddos.
On Cookie Day, the aspiring pastry chefs will learn how to create chocolate chip cookies as well as classic sugar cookies. Day two will be focused on decorating, with top-secret tips on how to jazz up both cookies and cupcakes (four of which they’ll be taking home, so watch out). And Cake Day will serve as the grand finale, when campers will get to dip desserts in different decadent chocolates, Kara will do a demo on filling and frosting cakes, and each kid will get their own personal cake to decorate.
Oh, and to kick things off, kids will get to nosh on breakfast the first two mornings before taking the pastry plunge, and the camp will end with a pizza and sundae party on the third afternoon. If only our metabolism could be as enviable as that of our young offspring...
Be sure to sign up soon as space is filling up fast! And if your kids can't make camp, keep The Kate Studio in mind for your next birthday party. They'll be hosting Halloween classes and winter holiday-themed classes as well.
Summer Kid’s Camp at The Kake Studio, August 29, 30, and 31, 10:30am-12:30pm, $300 per child. Visit Kara-Kakes.com for more sugary scoop.
