On average, how many questions does your kid ask you each day? A hundred? A million? You love it because they’re curious and interested. Their brains are fascinating, and their energy is endless…and a little exhausting if you’re going to be honest. During the school year, their classroom teacher channels their interest so you don’t have to field all the inquiries yourself, so come summer, you’re going to need to find a new partner to help nurture, engage, and develop your kid’s active mind. Summer Explorations at The Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, New Jersey is a unique blend of camp and school. They offer a wide variety of choices and opportunities for learning and fun for students ages 2 through ninth grade, taught by dedicated, caring, experienced educators who love to share their passions and interests with their students.
Summer Explorations at The Elisabeth Morrow School takes place on their beautiful 14- acre wildlife-certified wooded campus, complete with three playgrounds, a turf playing field, and state-of-the-art science and tech labs for all camp programs and activities. Students spend time outside each day, learning, playing, and detoxing from screens.
The program for children ages 2–first grade offers the chance to participate in developmentally appropriate weekly themes, classroom activities, and outdoor learning time. Teachers plan activities that help students connect to the topics and engage in authentic learning experiences. This summer, weekly themes will focus on adventure, creativity, and imagination as kids are engrossed in worlds that include: Fairy Tale Forest Rangers, Super Hero Week, Space Travel, and Time Travel.
Students in grades 2–6 will get to choose two workshops each week from carefully curated selections. They can choose to deepen their knowledge of established interests or passions, or they can decide to pursue a brand new topic or skill they are curious to know more about or have been wanting to try. Workshops include science, drama, animation, coding, sports, nature exploration, art, writing, and robotics. Workshops run for 75 minutes each day during the morning, ample time for students to explore, experiment, develop, and finalize whatever they are working on during the classes. For example, students in the animation class will develop their ideas for a short movie and then create the characters and backgrounds to photograph each scene, one by one. Finally, they learn to edit their work, adding sound effects to complete a short film. Afternoon choices are more open-ended, allowing students to choose daily from selections like arts and crafts, sports, science, drama, and other activities.
Students in grades 7–9 can participate in the Summer Explorations Leaders in Training (LIT) program. Through specialized training and hands-on experiences, students in the LIT program develop cooperation, team building, and leadership skills. Teaching is backed by science as LITs learn about the development stages of children and how to best work with each age level. Students spend time working with younger students in the classroom setting.
Summer Explorations is a place where students can feel comfortable meeting new people, exploring interests, and taking risks. They will gain confidence in themselves as they learn new skills and develop their interests, all under the watchful eye of caring, experienced educators.
Summer Explorations 2025 will run from Monday, June 23–Friday, August 1, 2025.
