Now that the kids are all talking about Gaga, the hottest new group game to hit Bergen County (and where birthday parties are all the rage), The Gagasphere in Waldwick is also offering summer camp and spring STEM classes.
What is Gaga? Started in Israel, Gaga is known as “the great equalizer” because kids of all ages and abilities can play at the same time. It’s a fast-paced group game played with a soft round ball, in an enclosure called a pit. The object of the game is to strike the ball with an open hand into other players, hitting them below the waist, while being sure not to be hit. If the ball hits you – you’re out – but if you’re standing on the sidelines and catch the ball, you’re back in! So players are engaged even when they are not in the pit.
Gaga Camps, designed for kids in grades 1 – 7, include plenty of team Gaga and Gaga tournaments, obstacle courses, table games, soccer, yoga, field trips and arts and crafts; and a brand new after school class, Gaga + STEM Mechanics and Motion is a new partnership with Curious on Hudson (www.curiousonhudson.com) which incorporates Gaga with the study of motion. Classes begin in April!
Other summer excitement includes the launch of their new service – Gaga on The Go (book the Gaga pit to come to your next backyard party, camp, street fair, or school event) and Private Pit Rentals (get a group of 6 or more friends together to play Gaga and enjoy an air conditioned space!)
Summer camps are run by Elizabeth Carr, a certified P.E. teacher who will build on activities each day, creating a safe, fun and enriching camp experience. Weekly camp programs run Monday – Friday from 9am–1pm (the week of July 3, camp runs Wednesday, July 5 from 12:30–4pm and Thursday, July 6 and Friday, July 7 from 9am–1pm)
