The NJEA Teacher's Convention is that special time of year that kids rejoice about having a few days off of school while parents — if you're not one of the lucky ones traveling — scramble to find all-day entertainment for the kids. This year, there's no reason to panic, as some of our fave Bergen County businesses are opening their doors (and their arms) to welcome your kids for hours of fun.
It's time to book one of these School's Out camps in the neighborhood before they fill up, so you can have peace of mind that your child is getting out their energy while you check off your to-do list.
The Fieldhouse, Northvale This sports spot has it all — basketball, baseball, soccer, dodgeball, arts and crafts, and more, and by signing up for a full- or half-day Teacher's Convention session, your child will get access to everything. Sign them up for one or both days as they take advantage of the huge facility with plenty of space to run and play. Thursday November 6-Friday November 7
Code Ninjas, Saddle Brook Let your kid engage in (one of) their favorite pastimes while developing their tech skills at Code Ninja's camp. With a specific focus on Minecraft and programming kids can play, create and learn while doing what they love. Thursday November 6-Friday November 7
Northern Valley Sports Academy, Closter Keep your little athlete moving while school's out at one of NVSA's sports-centered Teacher's Convention camps. The Flavor Labs, Norwood & Paramus Budding chefs cook up tasty eats, including sweet to savory dishes. Drop in for both days or one, with day one featuring stuffed cookie cups and artisan bread and day two featuring bagels from scratch and carrot cake mini muffins. They'll learn the art of cooking while enjoying their creations. Thursday November 6-Friday November 7
Tenafly Nature Center, Tenafly The Autumn Break camp for grades Pre-K to 6th brings kids closer to nature. Campers will explore the woods and trails of the nature center, make crafts, playgames, visit with the animals, and learn a thing or two about ecosystems — in a fun way. Plus, they'll get to enjoy the great outdoors while the weather's still warm. Thursday November 6-Friday November 7
Ridgewood YMCA, Ridgewood When school's closed, the Ridgewood Y is open and filled with summer camp-like activities including crafts, themed games, and swimming. The best part? Superdome Sports, Waldwick, Fair Law, and Northvale Boost your kids' activity while schools (not) in session at Superdome Sports' All Sports, Soccer clinics, and Basketball camp in Northvale. For the All Sports Holiday camp, they get a sampling of soccer, flag football, wiffle ball, field hockey and arts & crafts, or they can focus on foot skills and technical training with the all-soccer camp.
