Shows (and Crafts!) Your Kids Will Adore at WP Presents (dedicated)

Activities  /

In the theater mecca that we live in, it isn’t everyday that you’ll find family-friendly shows and sensory sensitive performances designed for kids with special needs, but WP Presents! at The Shea Center for Performing Arts at William Paterson University offers the best of both worlds.

If your family gets excited every time they hear the Star Wars theme song, you're in luck! The WP Presents! season kicks things off with The William Paterson University Symphony performance of the entire John Williams film score to Star Wars in Star Wars Extravaganza Concert on 10/15 with special character appearances from the movie.

This is also the only performing arts center in New Jersey that offers free pre-show creative activities for kids, and this season, there will be pre-show activities one hour prior to show time during matinee weekend performances for Pinkalicious the Musical on 11/5 and Lightwire Theater's A Very Electric Christmas on 12/17.

As part of their Theater for Children with Autism Series, WP Presents! presents Theatreworks USA's Click, Clack, Moo on 12/9. From sound and lighting adjustments to social narrative packets designed to help alleviate children’s anxieties, every care is taken to ensure that children do not become overwhelmed.

WP Presents! also conducts education outreach to elementary and high school students from across New Jersey. This fall's school-time performances include BASETRACK Live: The Story of a Marine's Deployment and His Journey Back Home on 11/1, La Yegros - Urban and Folkloric Music from South America on 11/10, and Bryan Collier's The Art of Trombone Shorty on 11/15.
