New Restaurants in North Jersey to Watch in 2020

Restaurants  /

The new year is all about making a fresh start, and for foodies like us, that means   finding delicious new dining spots that will serve up anything but the same old, same old. To that end, we’ve compiled our annual list of soon-to-open, certified-fresh new restaurants in North Jersey about to take the dining scene by storm.

Sweetgreen, Jersey City

The millenial fave healthy eatery will be opening its first NJ location this Spring in Jersey City. Plan for make-your-own salads and bowls and an earthy vibe. Here's to hoping for more NJ locations to open soon.

Weehawken Craft and Food Market

Way to go Weehawken! After leasing a two story bank building the township will be opening a market for artisans and up to 30 food vendors. So if you like food truck festivals or Smorgasburg prepare to love this spot- plus it's indoors so weather will never be a factor.

Poke Crew, Closter

This build-a-bowl spot’s second outpost is set to open in Closter Plaza is sure to have you counting down the minutes ’til lunchtime. With 10 signature bowls, each featuring an array of super-fresh veggies, protein-packed toppings, and top-quality fish and seafood, not to mention an endless number of customizable options, this place could soon make a certain chopped salad chain seem so last year.

Lets Meat Steakhouse, River Vale

Harrington Park’s popular BYOB steakhouse and "Italian eatery" will soon be making a move to a much larger spot in River Vale and the extra seating won’t be the only big difference customers will notice—they’ll finally have a liquor license! While the owners promise their menu of steakhouse favorites won’t change, there will be one major addition to that as well—sushi! We’re already in surf and turf heaven.

American Dream, Secaucus
We’ve been tracking all the excitement at this entertainment-and-shopping mega-complex for months now, but the announcement that it will eventually be home to 100 places to eat—including 23 full-service restaurants, three food halls and a food court—has us salivating with anticipation. So far, we hear Asian American grocer H Mart will occupy 35,000 square feet with a fully-stocked market, on-site bakery, and a sit-down restaurant serving up craft cocktails and live music, while Vice Media will operate a 38,000-square-foot food hall with 18 vendors, demonstrations from visiting chefs, and other interactive events. Need a caffeine boost? Grisini will have you covered with two coffee shops along with an international-themed food hall. American Dream has also announced it will have the first kosher food hall in the U.S. in a retail and entertainment destination, showcasing half-a-dozen vendors culled from the best kosher food operators on the East Coast.

Whole Foods Market, Woodcliff Lake

No longer will Woodcliff Lakers have to drive to Paramus or Ridgewood to get their Whole Foods fix. A brand new market will be opening on Chestnut Ridge Road right across from Tice's Corner, making it even easier to grab dinner on those busy evenings.

Dulce De Leche, Englewood

Of course, we had to leave room on our list for dessert, and this buzzed-about Argentinian bakery’s latest location in Englewood definitely takes the cake. Selling made-to-order breakfast and lunch items until 3 p.m. daily, their cake and catering menus have a wide variety of sweet treats to choose from. Check back soon for the official opening date!
