Edgar Allan Poe's spirit and works are about to come alive in Ridgewood, NJ.
Taking over The Women's Club of Ridgewood just in time to really make it a happy Halloween, the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy is bringing a spooky-inspired cocktail experience to the neighborhood. The space is transformed for three days only into a dark and mysterious speakeasy, where four of the writer's famous works will come to life through retellings by Poe historians, including The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, The Masque of Red Death, and The Black Cat.
The immersive experience pairs a performance of these four haunting tales with innovative cocktails that will set your soul on fire. The Pale Blue Eye features blueberry vodka, rose syrup, and lemon juice topped off with La Croix in a smoky glass, while the Cocktail of Read Death lights up with cherry herring, vodka, benedictine liquor, pineapple juice, lime juice, and bitters. On the darker side, sip on Edgar's Twisted Brandy Milk Punch with Kentucky bourbon, French brandy, vanilla cream, and half and half. Or, enjoy The Nevermore — a sophisticated black and gold cocktail with orange peach blossom vodka and secret spices.
The space will quickly capture you into a mysterious mood, with performers dressed in Poe-era costumes. The speakeasy is touring select cities throughout October into early November, and if you can't make it to Ridgewood's event, it's coming back to Newark Symphony Hall from November 6 to November 8. But hurry, times are already selling out quickly, so snag your tickets before it's too late.
Come dressed to impress and prepare for a bone-chilling time.
