In With Zinburger

Here’s a Riddle:  Who serves up fresh, innovative Certified Angus Beef (or Kobe) burger combinations (think toppings like carmelized onions, wild mushrooms or maple bacon and sauces like Truffle Aioli and Thousand Island Dressing), seared to perfection, sure to please the most discerning meat lovers, while still satisfying vegetarians, foodies and oenophiles alike?  Zinburger!  And lucky for Bergenites the white hot burger chain has just opened it’s doors in Garden State Plaza.

We hit Zinburger at their preview the weekend before the official opening on Tuesday, January 15th, to road-test the food and vibe with three kids in tow.

Buzz:  Modern, hip decor with multiple flat screens and upbeat tunes jamming on the speakers plus servers who are friendly and fun.  Before we could even order, our tots were playing with house-provided Etch-a-Sketches and Rubiks Cubes- score!  The restaurant seats 240 people with additional seats for dining al fresco on warm weather days, plus spacious bathrooms with changing tables for diaper-wearing-tots.

Menu (can be seen here):  Offerings include cleverly-named gourmet burgers stacked with topping combos like Manchego Cheese and Braised Onions or Kobe topped with Vermont Cheddar and Wild Mushrooms- plus veggie burgers for the non-meat eating crowd (yay!).  Other options include Market Fresh salads and mouthwatering sides like Truffle and Zucchini Fries.  Add in the shake selection and over-the-top desserts and the eatery can please any crowd.  But they really had us with their choice of 18 artisan wines by the glass and 17 beer selections, taking Zinburger from just another “burger joint” to somewhere you want to dine.

Our Experience:  We ordered the Double Truffle Fries (delicious), the Kids Cheeseburger, the Hava Chicken Sandwich, the Veggie Burger (tasty and fresh) and the El Diablo with Kobe Beef (amazing), We also tried the zucchini fries which were close to perfection- so crispy and light.  All of our plates were licked clean, with our picky toddler even giving it a thumbs up.  Our table sipped on a Chocolate Milk Shake loaded with Whipped Cream and were not surprised that it too was dreamy.  We recommend finishing your meal off with a large slice of the house-made Banana Cream Pie, with it’s Caramel Drizzle, that is, if you have room.
