For some people, their voice is their instrument; for others, it is merely an instrument of torture for the people around them. If your child spends their day singing that song from Moana or Frozen or just asking you to play the latest pop tune over and over so they can learn every word and sing along, then maybe their voice is their instrument. Maybe it’s time to help them hone their craft by having them join bergenPAC’s chorus program.
bergenPAC’s Young Voices program offers two sessions, one for 5 to 6-year-olds and one for 7 to 9-year-olds. They both meet on Saturday mornings, and the kids learn the basics—posture, breathing, vocal techniques—to build their confidence and learn how to perform with the ensemble. They’ll learn to sing in unison and two-part harmony. Doesn’t that sound like a dream come true?
Once your young choral star has learned what they need from the Young Voices program it may be time for them to try out for the Chamber Chorus. These students build confidence by performing in an advanced ensemble where they work to perfect their rhythm, sight-singing and ear-training skills. Students prepare for major performances on the mainstage of bergenPAC. Older members can sign up to receive college credits.
Now, imagine your child opening their mouth to sing and having music come out in tune and on beat. Doesn’t that sound nice? Check out the chorus programs at bergenPAC today!
