Biddy O’Malley’s Restaurant Opens Second Location in Englewood, NJ

Restaurants  /

A piping hot bowl of homemade chili with all the fixins. Ooey gooey macaroni and cheese. A trio of sliders tucked inside warm brioche buns. Winter is prime time for comfort food, and nothing quite compares to good ole Irish gastropub grub (especially one rated “very good” by the New York Times). Fortunately, you don’t have to travel to the Emerald Isle to indulge your taste buds now that Biddy O’Malley’s is now open in Englewood.

Located right next to Bergen PAC in the old Terra space, this Irish bistro and bar is a culinary four-leaf clover for authentic (yet elevated) pub food. This is the second BOM location, and owners Noel and Eileen O’Malley have wisely stuck to what worked at their flagship Northvale location, including the extensive menu of comfort food favorites.

I stopped by recently for lunch with my little one, who had been begging to sink her teeth into a juicy burger. In true gastropub fashion, BOM is burger heaven, each made with a special blend of ground chuck, short rib, and brisket. Her plate of Sliders ($10), topped with cheddar cheese and pickle, and my Red Quinoa and Black Bean Burger ($12), served with avocado, pickled red onions, arugula, and roasted red pepper crème fraiche, disappeared within a matter of minutes.

BOM also offers tons of other tasty dining options, from savory soups ($5-$7) and fresh salads ($10 and up) to classic Fish and Chips ($14), specialty sandwiches (flat iron steak, Cuban, or fried chicken, $11 each), and smaller plates (Baked Mac and Cheese, Crabcakes, Chicken Wings) starting at $10.  All dishes are prepared fresh and many allow for optional toppings, which we loved, because it made ordering fun and allowed us to customize our meals so we got exactly what we wanted. The gentle pricing, special itty bitty kids menu (so cute!), and cozy booths for seating makes this place a no-brainer if you want to grab good food with the kids in tow.

And although we were there for lunch, the extensive list of wines by the glass and even longer list of beers available by the bottle or draft had me planning our next visit- dinner with pals.
