Three New Coffee Spots That Will Make You Rethink Your Morning Starbucks

Restaurants  /

First there was the skinny vanilla latte. Then came the icy calorie bombs, the flat whites, and a never-ending supply of energy drinks. Whatever happened to the simple elegance a really great cup of coffee? Whether you’re looking for the quiet charm of a European-style café, or some upscale bustle minus the long lines, here are three new coffee spots in Bergen County that won’t leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

Kuppi Coffee Company (725 River Road, Edgewater, www.kuppicoffee.com) You'll feel like you've hopped across the bridge in this cosmopolitan, industrial designed coffee spot, where you can sit for hours staring out the window at the Hudson, sipping and noshing, for as long as the kids will let you. It's also the perfect place for meeting be it breakfast or lunch, because in addition to their large coffee and tea menu they also serve insta-worthy pastries, salads, sandwiches and toasts.
Coffee: George Howell Beans
Edibles: Scones, Dough Donuts, Cookies and Croissants, plus healthier lunchtime fare like Soups, Salads, Avocado Toast and Sandwiches, all served on Balthazar Bread
Seating: Tons of seating options to plant yourself and a laptop, plus high chairs for the minis. (and a changing station in the bathroom!)
Other: Chai Tea and Almond milk

La Tabatiere (303 Herbert Ave, Closter, 201.767.2545, www.latabatiere.com) You probably won't linger long at this little gem of a shop tucked away on a sleepy side street in Closter, but you'll be dreaming of their goodies long after your visit. This perfect spot to grab and go serves up everything from lattes with latte art to perfect cold brews, plus scones, and french patisserie faves baked right on the premises.
Coffee: Stumptown Roast
Edibles: Croissants, Brioche, Danish and More. Unique standouts like the Green Tea Scone with White Chocolate Chips.
Seating: Bar with bar stools running along the window
