Lately, our daily struggles include what to choose for dessert: cookie(s) or ice cream, chocolate or vanilla, extravagant or simple. Stack Creamery’s new location in Westwood, NJ has a simple solution: why choose?
The customized concept is simple and oh-so-delightful. Take two freshly baked cookies – choosing either two of the same flavor or two different flavors – drop some homemade ice cream in between, and top with a cereal or standard ice cream topping on the outside.
Cookie flavors include Fruity Pebbles, birthday cake, s’mores, kitchen sink (M&Ms, potato chips and pretzels), salted caramel and more. Ice cream flavors run the gamut from red bean and green tea to holy cannoli and sea salt caramel pretzel, while toppings include your basic choices plus cinnamon toast crunch, cookie crisp, brownie crumbs and more.
We tried out a variety of options for our layers: sugar cookie, chocolate chip, death by chocolate and M&M, each one the perfect chewiness for keeping the ice cream inside the layers, although napkins are definitely a necessity. Inside we enjoyed the vanilla peanut butter swirl, cookies and cream and sea salt caramel pretzel, all which were super creamy and complemented the warmth and chewiness of the cookie.
If an ice cream sandwich isn’t your thing, Stacked offers plain cones and cups for an equally delicious dessert, or pick your cookies and skip the ice cream. Their non-dairy options include lemon lce. There’s truly something for everyone.
