School Style That’s Thought-FULL

Your little fashion-forward kiddo is on the hunt for the perfect back-to-school ‘fit and they have some requirements. First, nothing that looks like it was made for a kid. They want their clothes to have the essence of adult trends, just sized down to fit them. But since every choice we make now affects our kids’ futures, you’d also like to know that the clothes you’re buying have been made with sustainability and eco-friendly practices in mind. The clothing brand SOW (Sustain Our World) is exactly what you’re looking for.

Currently available online (www.sowkids.com) and at select pop-ups in Bergen County this fall, SOW Kids was begun by a team of fashion veterans as a way to provide kids with the stylish, comfortable clothing they love to wear (and wear and wear and wear). The current Fall 2024 collection includes Cargo and Bomber jackets, classic sweatpants, chinos, cargos, and jeans, tees, sweatshirts, shorts, and other basics in both appealing neutrals and contemporary prints. Clothing from SOW is made with 100% Cottons and polyester that has been manufactured from recycled plastic bottles.

But each piece of SOW clothing comes with a side of knowledge and a few tangible ways for kids to track their environmental engagement, and see firsthand how even the smallest choices can have a big impact.

Each piece of SOW clothing comes with a seed paper hangtag that, when planted, grows into a garden of beautiful, colorful flowers. Not only is it a tangible reminder that fashion can be a force for positive change, but these flowers also help scrub the air of harmful emissions.

Additionally, each SOW garment has a unique QR code that unlocks an interactive world in which your kiddos are educated about sustainability and the environment through the use of fun facts. SOW understands that knowledge is power and with their help, your kid is going to have mad environmental awareness.

Oh, and one more thing. SOW, in partnership with ECO-DRIVE, has pledged to plant a mangrove tree with every purchase. What’s the big deal? Mangrove trees are able to sequester more carbon than any other tree on the planet. So with each purchase you make from SOW, you’re also leaving the earth a little better than you found it. In the works is a tracking number for each tree, so when it’s time to plant, your kid can watch a live feed of it actually going into the ground.

SOW has its roots (see what we did there?) in Bergen County. It’s founder grew up in Pompton Lakes and currently lives in Cresskill. They very proudly think globally and act locally and are thrilled to announce that they’re currently showing their collection at The Village in Fort Lee. They’ll also be at the Artisan Market in Fort Lee on September 7th and again on October 5th . Or, find them at the Hoboken Artisan Market on October 27th . So, let’s see, when you buy your kids apparel from SOW, you’re helping plant the seeds of environmental stewardship, reducing the ecological footprint of fashion, putting sustainability into practice, and dressing your kid like a rock star. Yeah, that’s probably a good way to put SOW’s motto into action and “Wear the Change”.
