OK, so 2020 has thrown a lot of not-so-pleasant things our way, but you know what can make any situation a little better? Cupcakes. That’s why we’ve been paying plenty of visits to The Cupcake Carriage lately. Owned by celebrity cake designer Tennille Ortiz of The Ellinnet Cake Collection, the glam bakery on wheels (equipped with air conditioning and heating!) doesn’t just whip up the kinds of cupcakes dreams are made of (think perfectly piped frosting doused in colorful sprinkles in fab flavors like vanilla birthday cake) but also macarons, cake pops, cookie kits, and other confections worthy of a summer splurge. Right now, The Cupcake Carriage is selling its sweets three days a week, perched on Pier A on Sinatra Drive in Hoboken, overlooking the Hudson, which means its views are as delightful as its desserts.
Want to sweeten up a special occasion? You can bring The Cupcake Carriage to any event (it makes for an especially fun addition to social distance gatherings these days) or hire it to head up a delicious birthday parade (something the carriage crew was doing long before it was a thing). Once it's booked, the festive truck will roll up with projects for the kids, beverages and add ons like PYO cookies, nespresso coffee and lemonade. Either way, you can get cupcakes personalized with names, logos, teams, and more. Bonus: Gluten-free and vegan options are available, too, so everyone can get in on the sweet eats.
Next up, look for The Cupcake Carriage to offer intimate workshops, which means us regular folk can finally become world-class bakers and put those days of Pinterest fails behind us. OK, that might not happen right away, but at least a delicious tasting outcome is guaranteed.
