Saddle River Day School Prepares Today’s Learners for Future Success [dedicated]

Schools  /

What, exactly, constitutes a "great" education? Does it have to do with memorizing facts and figures? Is it related to a child being free to explore their own unique interests and hone their talents? Is it exposure to new ideas and experiences? At Saddle River Day School in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, they think the answer is "D," all of the above, and more.

The SRDS mission is to educate each individual child so they can meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world with confidence and compassion. This mission begins in the brand new Pre-K3 program. This program was designed to meet the needs of young learners by fostering their social, emotional and academic development. With SRDS core values, "Everyone Counts," "Love of Learning" and "Intellectual Risk-Taking," as its foundation, the program nurtures a lifelong love of learning through collaboration, personal, individualized instruction, and meaningful experiences that build foundational academic and social skills. Saddle River Day School's littlest learners are well prepared for the transition to the SRDS lower school and (yes, it seems like forever away but it's not!) the future rigor of the middle and upper school curriculum.

Speaking of those lower, middle and upper school kids, not only have they survived the past year of academic upheaval but they have thrived. SRDS students attended full day school, five days a week starting last September. They were able to participate in new programs, including Gateway Diploma, an honors diploma program for upper school students; the Capstone Research Project, a year-long effort for Middle School students; and a monthly entrepreneurship project for Lower School kids. The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship offer 2-4 year tracks for upper school students in the areas of: Business and Entrepreneurship, Graphic Arts, Videography, Engineering, Psychology, and Computer Science. Plus, most clubs and programs were able to continue, providing enrichment opportunities for all students.

Saddle River Day School is looking forward: to the 2021-2022 school year, to moving ahead together, and to supporting and encouraging their students as they aim high and own their futures.
