If you’re going to do something, you might as well do it right. So if you’re looking for a place to to register your child for dance this fall, you’ll want to take a look at Progressive Dance Studio in Englewood. They teach dance by recognizing each dancer’s individual talent and nurturing their love of dance. And this year the studio will be celebrating their 40th anniversary!
At Progressive Dance Studio (PDS), your dancer will thrive in a comfortable, non-competitive environment. As part of the PDS family, your child will benefit from taking dance in a wide variety of classes that are tailored to all ages and skill levels. These classes, taught by experienced educators with backgrounds in professional dance begin with 1 – 3 year olds in the Tots-in-Tutus and Tumble Tot classes. Here your kids will learn the very first basics of dance through age appropriate games and activities. Plus, they will look super adorable doing it!
As students grow in the PDS studio, they are encouraged to explore different styles of dance to find the ones they like the best. Styles offered at Progressive Dance Studio include Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Acro dance. Students who study Acro dance, a combination of dance technique and acrobatic elements, will take classes in the brand new Acro studio which includes a 42 ft. Tumbl Trak floor to help them achieve next level acrobatic skills. Dancers develop stamina, strength, rhythm and balance. They improve both gross and fine motor skills. But far from just being a physical workout, dance also requires creativity and concentration in order to remember the thousands of steps that make up all those exhilarating dance routines.
PDS is also home to the Synergy Dance Company (SDC), an award winning competition dance company. Dancers are annually invited to audition to become part of this team, which in 2019, achieved success by winning numerous awards at all five competitions they attended. This included a Prestige Elite award and a First place overall in the Petite Division for one talented SDC dancer at the Dancers Inc. National Finals. Four more SDC dancers were invited to compete in the World Dance Championships this past summer.
PDS knows that choosing a studio home is a big decision. They invite all parents and new students to take a studio tour, meet the faculty and take as many free trial classes as they would like within one week. These free trial classes give your child an opportunity to experience the PDS environment and find their ideal dance classes. PDS is also hosting an Open House for prospective students and their parents the weekend of August 24-25. PDS is excited to welcome you to their studio as you begin your exciting journey into the world of dance!
