Performing Arts Summer Camp at Bergen PAC (dedicated)

It’s almost summer, which means you can stop saying things like sit down in that chair right now this instant and let the kids move. They can dance and sing and hop on one foot the whole day if they want. The question is: how much singing and dancing and yelling and hopping can you handle before you get to the point of coaxing them into the yard and locking the doors so you can enjoy your coffee in peace? In Early Stars, kids, age 3 months to 4 1/2 years, learn to chant, sing, and clap while exploring traditional and contemporary music from all over the world. And each family gets to take home a CD with some of their favorite songs to keep baby clapping and cheering in the car all the way home.

Beginning hoofers of any age can develop their skills in the Open Dance program. While in Dance Intensive classes, kids hone their skills in a variety of different dances including contemporary, modern jazz, African, and ballet. There are even Hip Hop Explorer sessions where budding hip-hop stars will learn to DJ, MC, breakdance, beatbox, and create graffiti (better at their place than yours).

Musical Theater camp engages kids (ages 5-12) by playing theater games and experimenting with dance choreography, music, singing, acting, and visual arts. The week ends with a final showcase that allows every child to get up on stage for their big moment of fame.

This year, in the Summer Musical program, the older kids (ages 12-18) will stage a production of West Side Story with an all-student cast, technical crew, and orchestra.
