Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, the dinosaurs are baaaack. Field Station: Dinosaurs is open for the season so pack up your budding paleontologist and head for Overpeck County Park in Leonia and the attraction that Fodor’s has nicknamed a “mini Jurassic Park” (minus the high-speed Jeep chases of course!).
You and your dino-lover can travel back in time to visit 32 life-sized dinosaurs that have been brought to life through a combination of robotics and the imagination of artists. This new dinosaur trail (including even more shaded areas) will get you and your little scientists up close and personal with some of the most awe-inspiring creatures ever to roam the earth.
What’s new this year? Well, in 2016 an election was held, votes were counted and based on the results, the Spinosaurus was named as the newest dinosaur to join the menagerie. Plus, there’s a new black light puppet show called Dinosaur Daredevil! Archeopteryx Cleared for Takeoff!, created and directed by the FSD’s lead Puppeteer. Meet the bravest dinosaur of all in this twenty minute live musical about the origins of animal flight! Giant prehistoric bugs buzz, frightening pteranodons soar and one brave little dinosaur takes to the sky through the magic of black Light puppetry in a fast, funny show that's sure to delight - and teach! - explorers of all ages.
Then make a day of it with shows that include a Dinosaur Dance Party with our own dinosaur troubadour and a T-Rex Feeding Frenzy which pits an intrepid dinosaur wrangler against the T-Rex as we learn about it’s eating habits (hint: it’s not a vegetarian). Join in the fun and games with the Field Station Challenge, Mesozoic Concentration, and a Fossil Dig Site. Upcoming events include: Scout Days, Library Tours and on Saturdays in July and August a featured Super Star of Science, a guest expert in the field of paleontology, geology, puppetry or science.
Advance tickets are on sale now and available by clicking here. Buy tickets online and not only do you save money, but you can use your ticket whenever you choose during the season. Your ticket is valid for any day through November 11th. Scout groups of 20 or more will get a group discount and scouts who show up in uniform will receive a special commemorative patch. Season passes are available for unlimited access and birthday party packages are available.
