The good news is summer’s just a couple months away. But if you haven’t made summer camp plans for the kids yet there’s even more good news: You’ve still got plenty of time to sign your gang up for one of YWCA Bergen County’s two accredited day camps, which you can learn more about at their upcoming Open Houses on Sunday, April 28th.
YWCA Bergen County Summer Camps are all about keeping boys and girls ages 5 to 16 engaged all summer long with American Red Cross swim lessons taught by certified instructors, waterfront activities, STEM projects, outdoor team sports, music & drama, arts & crafts, and theme weeks centered around subjects like dinosaurs and space, and special events including a camp carnival, a talent show, and Camp Olympics. Choose from Camp Ma-Kee-Ya in Mahwah and Camp Orinda in Dumont, both focused on helping campers build character, make new friends, connect with old ones, and create lifelong memories.
The professionally trained and dedicated staff help ensure that children don’t just have fun (though that’s a big one) but also stay engaged throughout the day in activities that help them develop on mental, emotional, social, and physical levels. The CIT program—available at both of our locations—gives teens ages 13-16 the opportunity to learn about a counselor’s job along with leadership and teamwork. CITs receive community service credits.
Bonus: Schedules are flexible because you can pick the weeks that work for you- even if it's just for a single week AND pre and post camp hours are also available at select locations (great for working parents!). Camp runs weekdays from June 24 to August 23 (8:30am to 5pm). Ready to learn more? Hit up one (or both!) of the open houses taking place at both Camp Ma-Kee-Ya and Camp Orinda ... and then happily check “summer camp planning” off your list.
