Look no further. Thurnauer School of Music at Kaplen JCC on the Palisades offers a robust and diverse curriculum of music classes for kids of all ages. Children ages 18 months old and up can participate in our engaging and energetic age-appropriate music classes., while introductory private music lessons with Thurnauer's incredible faculty are available for children beginning at age 3.
At Thurnauer, one of the most prestigious music schools in Bergen County, there is a class for every level – beginner to conservatory prep to adults. Students are offered frequent opportunities to perform in recitals and concerts as part of a chorus, orchestra, jazz ensemble, or individually to showcase what they have learned.
To learn more about how your child can begin their musical journey this fall, come see the staff and musicians at Thurnauer School of Music for their Open House on Sunday, September 16th from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Bring your preschooler and from 1:30 – 2:00 you can try out an early education music class. Then, from 1:30 – 3:30, the whole family will enjoy the Thurnauer School of Music’s signature event, the “Instrumental Petting Zoo”, the renowned, hands-on event when your child can get up close and personal with the instrument they are considering playing. A wide range of wind, strings and brass instruments will be presented by Thurnauer’s faculty and students for guests to play with and explore.
More advanced students will also have the opportunity to audition for Thurnauer’s ensembles including choruses, orchestra, jazz band and combos, and chamber music. Plus, Thurnauer’s top-notch faculty and director, Dorothy Kaplan Roffman, will be on hand to meet prospective students and offer tours of the facility.
