Those summer days are stretching looong in front of you and, while it's nice to be free of the school year schedule, it's also a lot of hours to fill with your kiddos every day. Palisades Center in West Nyack, New York is here to help fill some of those hours, especially on Tuesdays, with their popular (and free!) Tykes Tuesday summer program.
Tykes Tuesday was specifically designed with kids under the age of 12 in mind and includes some of Palisades Center's most popular shops and attractions. First up on July 5th, kids can strike a pose at Jellio World, the ultimate selfie funhouse. Jellio World is an interactive photography studio with over 20 unique rooms and walls for kids to vogue and vamp to their heart's content. Kids can snuggle with a giant rubber duck, pretend to be a mermaid under the sea, climb a rainbow or get their pic with a giant birthday cake or oversized gummy bears. Parents can low key get the family holiday card snap taken care of a little earlier this year. Jellio World will host your Tykes on July 5th and again on August 9th.
On July 12th and again on August 16th, your kids can take to the sky at the Sky Tykes Adventure Course. Kids under 48" tall can explore and climb while caregivers walk alongside or just sit back and watch what their little adventurers can do.
Speaking of adventurers, if your kids want winter in July, head to the Palisades Center Ice Rink on July 19th for an hour of skate time. Complimentary skate rentals for kids are included and your kids can learn a new skill while they take a break from the summer heat.
July 26th is animal awareness day with a visit from the Hudson Valley Human Society. Kids can participate in an interactive information session that includes tips for pet safety. A craft project will culminate in a collage of pet pictures drawn by participants.
Join a storytime for Tykes at Barnes & Noble on August 2nd, or eat your own dessert creation at the Great American Cookie Company cookie decorating session on August 23rd. Kids can "design a fresh baked cookie and sprinkle it with their own culinary creativity." Which means that's one less mess you'll have to clean up in your own kitchen this summer!
Then, round out the summer in style at ClimbZone on August 30th, a family-focused climbing entertainment center that features climbing walls decorated with original, themed artwork.
Phew, when we put it this way, that summer doesn't seem so long after all, does it? Tykes Tuesday will also host a Play Zone on Level One where Tykes can play games and have fun. The Play Zone is open from 11 am-4 pm. All Tykes Tuesday events with the exception of ice skating will take place from 11 am-12 pm. Ice skating at Palisades Center Ice Rink will take place from 1 pm-2 pm. Advance registration is not required for Tykes Tuesday events and all events are free of charge. Some programs will require a cost for parents, caregivers or guardians who wish to participate.
