Healthbarn USA (1057 Hillcrest Road, Ridgewood, 201-444-2955)
This one-of-a-kind garden-to-fork program gives kids, ages 3–15, the opportunity to cook recipes from fresh seasonal food. Kids not only get a first-hand experience of cooking delicious recipes but they also learn about organic gardening and the importance of healthy eating through fun, engaging activities. Kids will receive weekly deliciously healthy recipes that they can make at home for the whole family to enjoy. Their Seedling Growing and Learning Enrichment Program offers young kids ages 3-5 the chance to learn and grow in an outdoor classroom at the Barn. After-school virtual live baking classes with founder, Stacey Antine are also available.
Ridgewood Culinary Studio (223 Chestnut Street Ridgewood, 201-447-2665)
If you’re in the Ridgewood area and have a kid who loves to whip up “creations” in the kitchen, then Ridgewood Culinary Studio is a place to hone skills while still having fun. Their industrial kitchen and fun instructors will teach kids proper technique and you’ll get to indulge on class “leftovers”.
The Flavor Labs (514 Livingston Street, Norwood)
This cooking studio is pushing kids to "think outside the bowl." Students cook up a wide variety of foods as they experiment with flavors to encourage good food choices, plus less picky, more adventurous eaters. On the menu include sweet recipes such as S'more Pizza and Edible Cookie Doughh, as well as savory recipes including Penne Alla Vodka.
