Kaplen JCC On The Palisades (411 East Clinton Avenue, Tenafly, 201-569-7900)
This huge Bergen County community center offers a wide range of classes for kids of all ages with everything from Yoga and Little Maestros for little ones to more specialized music programs and top-notch private instruction held at the reputable Thurnauer School of Music, to an Aquatics Center with everything from mommy and baby swim to the competitive Waverunners swim team and more, this Mega Center can be your main source for extracurricular activity. If logistics is an issue they even offer their signature “Kids Club” program, that provides transportation for your child to an after-school class, homework help and a snack- so you don’t have to rush for that early bus. While your kids are off having fun, you can enjoy their gorgeous fitness center, spa or grab a bite at the café.
Wyckoff YMCA (691 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, 201-891-2081)                     
Enjoy all the benefits this YWCA has to offer with their large selection of well-priced classes from art to cooking, gymnastics, yoga and more that are available to babies as young as 4 months through teens, you’re sure to find classes that suit the entire family. But the real draw is the Y’s commitment to fitness and active lifestyle. In addition to the facility’s amazing swimming pool, full scale fitness center and fitness classes plus basketball courts, the center offers training programs for kids to participate in everything from Triathlons to Fun Runs, so young competitors can set goals and train with experts who will help them reach them. Mega Bonus: for a small additional fee, members can enjoy activities and swimming at the Y’s very own Spring Lake Park during the summer months. Sounds like a win-win.

The Ridgewood Y’s indoor pool is a big attraction to this beautiful facility, offering a year-round swim team, lifeguard training and a variety of swim lessons for kids of all ages. In addition to their aquatics programs, moms also rave about the sports and academic enrichment programs that will keep your little ones engaged and active all year. Plus, teens can take advantage of their unique Leaders Club Program, which helps build confidence in teens while learning essential leadership skills.

The recently opened Kidville in Closter Plaza and Englewood locations are the rockin’ go-to spot for kids under the age of 5. A well-kept secret among library goers is Ridgewood Library’s vast array of children and teen programming.  When it’s chilly outside and you want to hibernate, look no further than the library’s catalogue of activities and signature classes such as Creative Writing Workshops (grades 4 through 6), Movie Matinees, Story and Craft Projects, and Reading to a Dog plus an exciting new S.T.E.M program coming soon. Bonus: Non-Ridgewood residents can still enjoy this programming by purchasing a Guest Membership kids card.
