Firstwatch Has Just Opened the Perfect Breakfast and Lunch Spot in Montvale NJ

If you’re lucky enough to not have your kids act as human alarm clocks every morning (yeah, right, like that’ll be happening anytime soon!), an excellent new breakfast spot, First Watch, just might be all the motivation you need to get rise and shine on.

Located in the new Shoppes at DiPiero Farms, not far from Wegmans, this cozy cafe specializes in delivering some of the best breakfast, lunch, and brunch dishes around (no dinner menu here), complete with a comfortable, friendly service, and more-than-reasonable prices.

We dropped in with Bergen Mama Wellness editor, Helaine Kay, for an early morning bite, and our day couldn’t have gotten off to a better start. Along with breakfast classics like omelettes, frittatas, bacon, and homestyle potatoes, the menu here also includes plenty of healthy fare, assorted “bowls,” and seasonal specials like creatively topped toasts and vanilla chai latte pancakes. We ordered the Avocado Toast—thick-cut whole grain toast topped with fresh smashed avocado, EVOO, lemon, and Maldon sea salt and served with two basted eggs—and the Healthy Turkey, an egg-white omelette loaded with turkey, house-roasted onions, tomatoes, spinach, and Feta.

Of course, coffee was a must, and First Watch is the exclusive purveyor of Project Sunrise, a bean brand that supports female coffee growers in the Huila department of Colombia. The flavor was top-notch, and they definitely aren’t stingy with it, leaving an entire carafe on our table, which for two busy mamas was very much appreciated.

While we couldn’t linger long, thanks to a full day of things to do, we’ll definitely be coming back to experience their "Million Dollar Bacon”—four slices of our signature hardwood smoked bacon baked with brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne, and a maple syrup drizzle—and what looked like a great lunch menu filled with healthy salads and appetizing sandwiches.

Breakfast is served.
