One-way travel over the GWB with EZ Pass? $12.50 (peak) or $10.50 (off-peak). Round-trip quality time with you and your loved ones? Priceless!
Seriously, there’s no reason why you should overpay when you’re traveling with a carload of kids. The good news: Babies, small kids, big kids, your friends’ kids, grumpy spouses, and even in-laws all count as carpool passengers! With EZPass, you can save a bundle any time you have three or more passengers in your car (no, sorry, dogs, stuffed animals, and goldfish crackers ground into the floor mats do not count.) The carpool rate is just $6.50 per peak trip and $4 non-peak, a huge savings, especially for those of you shuttle express moms who travel to and fro NYC frequently.
All you have to do is pre-enroll in the EZPass program before your next trip. Call 1-888-288-6865) or log into your existing E-ZPass Account and change your plan to PACP or go online at https://www.e-zpassny.com/en/about/plans.shtml. If you don’t already have a Port Authority Carpool Plan (PACP), simply verify you’re the owner of a Class 1 or 11 vehicle with non-commercial plates, and have a private EZPass account registered to you either in New York or New Jersey. To register for PACP, call 800-333-8655 (New York Service Center) or 888-288-6865 (New Jersey Service Center) and be sure to have your account number or tag number and PIN for account access.
EZPass works on all major toll crossings, including GWB, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, Outerbridge Crossing, and Bayonne Bridge. Once you’ve loaded up your crew, simply use the Cash/EZPass lane so they can verify that you have three or more occupants, and then you’ll be good to go!
