Culture Club

 /

Top 3 signs that your kids are culture-starved this winter:

  1. They are begging to visit Tenafly Pediatrics to “see the fish mommy”.
  2. They have seen Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel three times since xmas break and are beginning to quote the movie lines to you in normal conversation.
  3. Watching Idol is literally the focal point of your kids’ week and you find yourself debating with them who is a better judge, Kara DioGuardi or Katy Perry.

If any or all of the above sounds just a little like your family these days, why not take them out for a day of live theatre?  Here are some offerings right in your backyard:

Get tickets to Dan Zanes (Sat April 17th) or NJ Ballet’s Cinderella (Sun Apr 25) both playing at the BergenPAC.  Go to the BergenPAC website for tickets.

Check out the Paper Mill Playhouse, with productions of Goodnight Moon & Runaway Bunny (Sat May 1st) or Charlotte’s Web (Sat May 15th)

22 Brookside Drive, Millburn NJ.

973-376-4343 Orchestra seats $15

If you are heading to the city….

Go see Dear Edwina at the DR2 Kids Theatre on East 15th Street and Union Square.  A musical comedy for kids 5 and up, about a girl who will do anything to be in a talent show.

Running now through February 15th.

After the show, grab a bite at Max Brenner’s Chocolate Factory (Broadway and 14th)

Kids a little older? On Broadway:

Visit Mama Mia at the Winter Garden Theatre. Tickets right now are on sale for 40% off regular prices.

Or check out The Addams Family at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. Even your husband might enjoy that!

Hands down, the best deal in town:

Participate in Kids Night on Broadway this week, where kids go free to participating Broadway shows!
