We all know children grow, and some seem to grow so fast that by the time you get around to washing and taking the tags off that adorable new outfit you just bought, they've already outgrown it. If you're nodding your head in agreement, we've got some good news to share. Borobabi, a sustainable children's boutique that lets you buy, rent and return clothing (after being worn!), is celebrating the grand opening of their Flagship Discovery Store in Ridgewood on April 14th, in honor of Earth Month.
Created by Ridgewood native and CEO Carolyn Butler, Borobabi is not your typical children's clothing boutique. All pieces, made for babies through 6 years, are curated from their partnerships with sustainable and ethically made brands with the goal of accessible clothing that helps the planet, too. Plus, they aim to provide clothing options for every budget, so you can feel good while your kid looks good. To decrease waste caused by the amount of kids' clothes families outgrow and throw out each year, Borobabi focuses on a circular business. Which means, you have the choice of buying or renting new or pre-owned (but in good shape, cleaned and repaired) clothes that can then be returned after use for a 20 percent credit of your original purchase price. Once a piece has gone through two to five families, Borobabi recycles or composts the products to reduce waste. Pre-owned and rented clothing is available online, and new items can be found in store. With this model, Borobabi has helped to reduce clothing from landfills, reduced the amout of fresh water used for clothing manufacturing and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Now that's something we can get behind, and get our kids into!
Plus, not only can you feel good supporting the planet, but your kids can feel good in the soft fabrics used for each adorable style. Shop from 100% organic cotton onesies, sets, jackets, pajamas and more for babies in a number of colors and patterns. For toddlers and young kids, find dresses, button-down shirts, hoodies and everyday wear, all made with organic cotton and natural fabrics, in earth tones and pastels. At the Ridgewood shop, you'll also find some styles for women too, if you're looking to give your own closet a boost. Need a helping hand when it comes to shopping for your kids? Borobabi also has you covered there. The Borobabi Bundle Service offers bundles put together by stylist moms, if you prefer to shop from home.
Be on the lookout for the opening of their first pre-loved concept store in Ridgewood coming soon, where you can shop first-hand from pre-owned, but loved and cared for, clothing.
