If you’ve got a kiddo who loves sketching, sewing, and styling, we know exactly where they’ll want to be this summer: Kuka’s Fashion & Design Studio in Englewood, the spot for budding fashion designers.
Kuka's just announced its brand-new semi-private Summer Camp Program, which offers half-day sessions limited to just two campers per room with six campers total per session. Kids will learn and do everything from drawing croquis (those cool live model sketches you see in every designer’s sketchpad) to selecting fabrics to drafting customized patterns. They’ll then get to create their very own wearables and accessories by hand or machine, adding their very own one-of-a-kind details to put the final touches on their couture creations.
Beginners and experienced sewers ages 7 to 17 are welcome and can choose either morning or afternoon 3-hour sessions taking place from July 6 to August 24. Each camper will complete at least four fashion projects each week and themes and projects change weekly so dynamic designers can definitely attend multiple weeks. There’s one instructor and an assistant for each camper and the $385 weekly fee includes all equipment, tools, sewing machines (equipped with safety features), and fabrics. Plus, each camper will get to strut their stuff – and cool creations -- at a fashion show set to take place the end of the program.
And who says moms can’t learn the fun of fashion design, too? That’s why Kuka’s is also offering single-session Mommy and Me workshops where moms and their mini-me fashionistas get a private room and all the tools they need to create matching pieces like lovely leggings, adorable aprons, or cool looking masks.
Of course, the Kuka’s team is implementing strict social distancing, hygiene, and sanitation protocols to ensure everyone has a safe summer ... and is rocking their brand-new custom wardrobe by fall.
Next up, keep an eye out for the 2020 Afterschool Program schedule and online courses, too!
