bergenPAC Saves Your Summer with Virtual Performing Arts Camps (dedicated)

Camps  /

It has been said that the arts will save us. This seems particularly true when options for summer camps and activities are limited and almost everything will have to remain socially distanced and virtual once school ends next month. Fortunately, the Performing Arts School at bergenPAC has been operating virtually since March. They will be offering ALL NEW Virtual Summer Programs for students of all ages. So if your child has been asking to try out the performing arts, there’s no better time than this summer.

At bergenPAC, there’s something for everyone:

The Musical Theater Summer Camp (ages 5-12) features theater games, dance combinations, choreography, music appreciation, singing, acting the song and visual arts, all offered through a combination of live and recorded sessions that will introduce your child to all aspects of the musical theater experience and allow them to learn new skills.

For the littlest performing artists (ages 2 months – 4 ½ years), bergenPAC provides the virtual Early Childhood music program. Parents or caregivers and their children explore, learn and discover the wonders and benefits of music with developmentally appropriate music for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Classes are 45 minutes and introduce musically driven activities set to a soundtrack featuring New Jersey musicians and vocalists.

The bergenPAC summer musical, Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, will be performed virtually this year. Auditions are required. Students will work alongside bergenPAC staff to gain greater self-confidence and receive professional level experience. Final performances are July 31 – August 2.

Teens (ages 13- 18) will hone their triple threat skills in the Musical Theater Workshop. They'll receive in-depth training in musical theater dance styles, acting with a focus on monologues, musical theater vocal technique and repertoire. The culmination of the workshop is a performance of scenes from popular musicals.

bergenPAC is offering Dance Intensives for students ages 10 – 18 who wish to receive deep training in the art of dance. This virtual program will be offered by studio director, Roberta Mathes and require an audition and placement class for students not currently enrolled in the studio.

Students of all ages will have access to Open Dance Classes in the afternoons and evenings. Styles will include ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop or tap. Students can take single or drop-in classes or sign up for a 6-week session. Dancers of all levels are invited to join in!
