Axe-Throwing Bars Are the Newest Trend (And Now We’ve Got One in Bergen County)

Trends  /

What do throwing an axe and drinking have in common? They’re both activities you can partake in at the new Bury The Hatchet in Paramus. Yep, in case you haven’t heard, axe-throwing bars are a hip, growing trend in the U.S. (but actually originated in Canada several years back).

Now, before you say, There’s absolutely no way in hell I’m doing that, we’re telling you it’s totally safe and fun and worth a try. Here’s how it works: You make a reservation show up with friends (or just your hubby if you want an out-of-the-box date night). Staffers give you a quick safety spiel along with a lesson and then it’s time to get throwing. And in case you’re wondering, the rules and style of play are similar to darts ... only you’re tossing a giant hatchet at a wood bullseye target, NBD. And while some locations have a bar, the Paramus venue is BYO, so feel free to bring a bottle of your fave vino if you’re looking for some liquid courage. (Or even if you’re not). The place even lets you bring in food or get some delivered if you want to make a whole night of it.

At 12,000 square feet, it’s the Bury the Hatchet chain’s largest venue and is also available for parties and corporate events ... but we’re not sure if wielding an axe around your boss is the best idea.
