A DIY Safari Party

Birthday Parties  /

My kids are animal lovers.  Oh, and did I mention bug lovers too? (always a lot of fun).  Which is why when my daughter was turning six in mid-January, I knew we wanted an indoor Safari themed birthday bash.  It took a little planning, some work, but she had a blast. And even the kids who initially cringed at the site of the Boa Constrictor loosened up and had a great time.

First, guests were sent Safari Expedition Passes asking them to come.  (Custom Designed Passes and printables made by Frostingandink and available on Etsy, wrapped in raffia and sent out).

And greeted with a Giraffe-inspired number “6” Balloon design on our front lawn upon arrival. (Balloon Shape made by Balloon Artistry, Chestnut Ridge, NY)

Then, everyone proceeded inside for lunch.  Tables centerpieces included flats of wheatgrass (ordered from a local garden shop) with animals “lurking”.  Plus custom printed labels for waters (from FrostingandInk) and bamboo servingware.

An live animal show (provided by Outragehisss Pets) and tattoo and feather hair extension bar (provided by Sparkle Up) were the activities.  Yes, we had an armadillo.

But we also had really cute bunnies.

We finished off with a Safari-themed dessert table and a delicious custom cake (custom cake made by Sweet Sisters in Fairfield, NJ).

Take-aways included animal printed neckpillows (ordered from Alibaba.com) wrapped and tied with custom tags, plus animal print slap bracelets and safari hats (both from Oriental Trading company).
