Your Child Will Learn Boldly at Dwight-Englewood’s D-E 360 Summer Connections (dedicated)

Camps  /

The good thing about summer is that kids have more time on their hands. But then again, the not-so-great thing about summer is that…wait for it, kids have more time on their hands. Fill some of those hours with D-E 360 Summer Connections Program at Dwight-Englewood School where the specially curated classes and enrichment sessions will channel their curiosity and energy while encouraging them to discover new interests, pursue new passions or deepen their knowledge about something they already enjoy.

Learn boldly this summer at D-E. The inspirational theme, developed this year for the Adventures and Discoveries campers, is 2020 Visions of Greatness. Campers in Preschool through Grade 4 (as of September 2020) in the Discoveries, Adventures & Junior Camp programs will earn medals as they examine success through the weekly themed lenses of sports, the arts, science, literature, history and social justice. Through hands-on learning, on- campus and off-campus field trips and a curriculum that always has an eye toward math, science and the arts, campers will be encouraged to explore their curiosity about what it takes to be great. And any Olympic year wouldn’t be complete without an Olympic-style field games competition at the end! Pre- and after care are available and lunch and snacks are provided for all full day campers.

For students in Grades 5 and up (as of September 2020), the D-E 360 Summer Connections Enrichment program gives kids the unique opportunity to build a modular weekly schedule of classes from a robust catalog of offerings that cater to all interests and skills. Enrichment campers can pick arts, athletics, business, cooking, STEM and other 1-week courses.

D-E 360 Summer Connections also offers Immersive programs as an elevated option for those who want to pursue their passions. Campers will closely collaborate with master level faculty as well as peers who are equally passionate about the topic in immersive programs that generally range from one to three weeks in length. Academic Enrichment for grades 5 through 9, a Scholars program for high school students, and athletic training are also available.

Summer Connections boasts specialty areas in Athletics and Visual Arts, including a Studio Art & Design focus for older students. There are also expanded computer science and programming options, including a Scholars offering for high school credit and a three-day academic readiness program for students entering high school at the ninth or tenth grade level. Students in Summer Connections this summer will benefit from the completion of the Dwight-Englewood “Village Project” through use of the brand new, state-of-the-art teaching kitchen in the Middle School for Enrichment cooking classes. There’s no better way to celebrate the end of construction than with a Fab Food Lab!

D-E 360 Summer Connections will run from June 29 – August 7. Full and half days are available and campers can attend most programs on a flexible weekly schedule. This year, bussing has been added as an option from a number of towns.
