The nation’s range of museum offerings out there has certainly become quite a bit more varied (and often yummier!) than it used to be: Over the last couple of years in New York alone, we’ve had museums dedicated to pizza, chocolate, candy, even rose (which was more of a “mansion” than museum, but still). But our absolute favorite was, sticky hands down, the Museum of Ice Cream, which popped up in 2016 for a fleeting summer.
If you never made it to the shrine to the beloved treat (or, like us, are still dreaming about the decadent destination), you’re in luck: The museum will return to the Big Apple this fall, setting up shop permanently in a 25,000-square-foot space in SoHo. Expect poppy decor, unicorns, cookie carousels and that oft-Instagrammed pool of rainbow sprinkles visitors can “splash” around in along with a cafe for enjoying fun flavors. Why the place (currently operating in San Francisco) didn’t arrange to open its new NYC location in the heat of the summer, we don’t know, but we'll still jump in for a sweet day of fun.
Museum of Ice Cream 558 Broadway, New York. Tickets on sale now, opens Saturday December 14.
