Travel with the Kids? New Baha Mar in the Bahamas is the Perfect Family Trip

We love nothing more than a warm-weather getaway in the dead of winter, but researching and planning it? Not so much. Maybe that’s why, once we find a spot we love, we go back again and again (and again). With the opening of the new Baha Mar in the Bahamas – the first new, luxe resort to open this close to the East Coast in some time –  we’ll have no excuse not to get out of our resort rut.

Located on the island of Nassau (a super easy flight from Newark), the resort combines three luxe hotels on one property – the massive Grand Hyatt, quirky SLS, and modern and intimate Rosewood – so you can choose the one that best suits your vacation ... maybe one of the 1,800 rooms at the mega Hyatt with its six splashy pools for a family trip or an oceanview suite at the luxe Rosewood for a couple’s getaway.

All of the hotels give you access to the Explorer’s Club for kids ages 3 to 12, the glam casino, and a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course. And did we mention the food? Baha Mar is home to more than a dozen restaurants – from LA’s hip Mediterranean eatery Cleo and sushi hot spot Katsuya to casual poolside fare, you’ll be eating well. Oh, and drinking well, too thanks to a variety of cool cocktail lounges, nightclubs (c’mon, you’re on vacation!), beachfront bars, and a jazz club.

Then, of course, there’s the spa, a solid roster of fitness classes, water sports, shopping, and jaunts to a private island. But we have a feeling we had you at “warm weather” ...
