Things to Do with Kids Teachers Convention in Bergen County

As if calming the kids down from their Halloween sugar highs wasn’t enough of a job, we now bestow upon you mamas of Bergen County, the annual Teachers Convention long weekend. But never fear, our trusty guide is here- to make that long weekend easy and fun for everyone (including you!).

Why: Madcap balloon artist, Allynn Gooen, invites audience members into his stories to become the actors, while he creates the sets, props and costumes from twisted balloons.  Families are sure to enjoy an unforgetttble, captivating interpretation of the classic "Wizard of Oz".
When: Thursday, November 10th 1:30pm, $5/all attending, kids under 2 are free
Where: Anne Zusy Youth Center, 131 N. Maples Ave., Ridgewood
 
Why: Come experience Climbing, Ninja Warrior and Parkour Camp. Joe Moravsky from the hit TV show American Ninja Warrior will be our head coach on November 11th limited space is available.
When: Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th 9- 12pm and 9- 3:00pm. Kids ages 5 -14 and all fitness abilities.

Why: Your child can be both chef and organic farmer, while eating healthy delicious food, and enjoying fun games and activities.
When:  Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th from 9:00am– 3:00pm. Kids between the ages of 5-12.

Why: A full day of games like wiffleball, kickball, soccer and basketball lead by coaches, races, drills, relays, & capture the flag!
When: Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th 9am-3pm, $65 per day (lunch & snack included)

Why: Endless fun of Bubble Ball the newest, popular recreation sport that kids and adults are talking about. Including soccer, basketball, dodgeball and more!
When: Friday, November 11th, 10:00am-2:00pm, $50 tickets, children ages 5 and up.
Where: West Rock Indoor, 21 Pralle Lane, Nanuet, NY
 
Why: Gaga, disco gaga, games, tournaments, obstacle courses, crafts and more.  Led by Elizabeth Carr, PE teacher in Hillsdale.
When: Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th, 9:30-12:30/$60 and 9:30-2:30pm/$80 for boys and girls ages 5-12.

Why: JCC offers two days for your children to play! Daily varieties including swimming, crafts, sports, entertainment and more!
When: Thursday, November 10th from 9:00am-4:00pm & 4:00pm-6:00pm and Friday, November 11th, 9:00am-4:00pm

What: YWCA November Vacation Day Program​
Why: No school. No worries. Kids will have fun taking trips to FunPlex and Planet 301 plus lots of other exciting age-appropriate activities throughout the day.
When: Thursday, November 10th and Friday, November 11th from 7:30am-6:30pm; $70 per child per day for families that are currently participating in YWCA Before or After School programs, and $90 for non-participating families, price includes transportation and admission to the scheduled event/activity.

Why: Kids will enjoy swimming, arts & crafts, fun theme days and more!
When: Thursday, November 10th - 9:00am to Friday, November 11 - 5:00pm. Children grades K-8. YMCA Members $65/day and Non-member $85/day

Why: Trampoline court, a massive foam pit, a basketball dunking court and more.

Why: Two days off?! Enjoy it at a super gross day at the zoo! Interact with animals, conduct animal investigations, create fun projects and more!
When: Thursday November 10th from 9am-4pm and Friday November 11th from 9am-4pm ages 5-10. Enjoy one day or both days!
