The Show Must Go On [dedicated]

There’s nothing you love more than watching how your kid responds to live performers. They clap along to singers, dance like no one’s watching, and are enthralled by magicians and make-believe. You want to take them to see live theater, but you want to make sure it’s in a welcoming environment just on the off chance they get a bad case of the wiggles. bergenPAC in Englewood, New Jersey has you covered with a full schedule of shows that are tailored to your little one, right down to the shortened run time and the indulgent smiles when they decide to bust a move right in the middle of a musical number.

For kiddos who love the magic of the holidays, take them to see the New Jersey Ballet perform The Nutcracker on Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th. Choose either the 1:00 pm show or the 4:30 pm show and then lose yourselves in the timeless story of Clara, her Nutcracker prince, dancing snowflakes, flowers, candies and, of course, the Sugar Plum Fairy.

On December 18th, discover the true spirit of Christmas along with Scrooge, in the Virginia Rep on Tour’s presentation of “A Christmas Carol”. Shows will be performed at 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm and are appropriate for grades K-5.

Once winter really settles in, you’ll definitely want somewhere to go on those cold weekend afternoons. On January 22nd at 1:00 pm, make plans to attend an update to the classic, “The Adventures of Tortoise and Hare: The Next Generation”. If you’ve ever wondered what happened after the race between these two competitors, find out as the story continues 10 years later when Old Man Tortoise and Big Daddy Hare have children of their own. Dazzling visuals, poignant storytelling, and creative use of music from classical to pop, help bring this classic take into a brilliant new light.

Or, spend an afternoon with Britain’s most beloved bear, Paddington. You will not be surprised to hear that he’s gotten himself into some trouble again. In “Paddington Gets in a Jam”, what starts out as a neighborly request for some sugar to make jam, turns into mayhem as Paddington tries to help Mr. Curry prepare for a visit from his great aunt. Will everything turn out okay in the end? Come to the theater on Saturday, February 19th at 1:00 pm or 4:00 pm to find out!

Tickets for all shows are available on the bergenPAC website. See you at the theater!
