We’ve come to the portion of the school year when we’re all looking forward longingly to summer break so we can take a collective deep breath and ease off the gas of our hectic, school year life. No one needs that break more than our kids, but sometimes we replace the busyness of school with the busyness of camps and summer activities. If you’re looking for something different for your kids this summer, a place where they can truly slow down and pay attention to the wonder of the natural world around them, The Nature Place summer day camp, located in Chestnut Ridge, NY (right over the border!) might be just the place for you.
The Nature Place Day Camp offers a nature-oriented, collaborative, non-rushed summer camp. Each day leaves room for kids to decompress and de-stress on The Nature Place’s 200 acre green oasis in Rockland County where they can roam and enjoy fields, forests, farmland, orchards, gardens, ponds, and streams.
Campers are encouraged to achieve personal growth and self-discovery during a 4, 5 or 6 week camp experience that is focused on their holistic development through outdoor adventure and artistic exploration. Campers participate in activities that range from outdoor skills like canoeing, swimming, hiking, and archery to creative activities that include animal encounters, earth art, farming, gardening, music and drama, and collaborative games. The uniting factor in each activity is an environment that encourages them to discover their best self and connect with themselves, one another, and the earth. At The Nature Place Day Camp, campers are supported and given the freedom to explore their interests and establish a foundation of trust and friendship.
The Nature Place Day Camp runs from July 1, 2024 – August 9, 2024 and is offered for children ages 4-15. Their progressive camping philosophy offers campers increasing opportunities to camp overnight, and experience more adventures like backpacking and rock climbing as they age up. Yes, The Nature Place camp does have camping! The littlest campers learn the basics of outdoor living with an Almost Overnight experience. Once they’re a little older, there are Overnight camping experiences on The Nature Place campus to prepare them for longer excursions once they reach their tweens and teens. Each child is able to determine their comfort level and access these experiences at their own pace.
To learn more about The Nature Place Day Camp, join them at one or more of their upcoming events and hikes, or schedule a private tour for your family today! You are also invited to schedule a meeting with Camp Director, Jason Samuel to chat or ask questions. Then, get ready for your kid to have a magical summer discovering (or re-discovering) their connection to the outdoor world and their peers. You just have to get through the school year first!
