Sid the Science Kid Comes to Liberty Science Center (dedicated)

Day Trips  /

First she assembled a “mouse house” out of Legos. Then she graduated to a remote-controlled robot that fished stray socks from underneath the bed (genius!). To keep the inspiration flowing, we’re taking her to the “Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit” at Liberty Science Center.

On view from February 6 through May 15, this super-duper exhibition, based on the hit PBS show created by the late Jim Henson, lets youngsters ages 3-7 dive into four subjects they love but aren’t, frankly, getting enough of at school: science, technology, engineering, and math.

Featuring loads of interactive play areas they’re sure to recognize—Sid’s bedroom, kitchen, backyard, classroom, and playground—kids are encouraged to think through the science they see around them every day and explore answers to their questions. Through creative play and experimentation, they’ll learn about simple machines, shapes and numbers, motion, magnetism, air power, the five senses, and much more.

How much more? Well, they can:

  • Get an up-close view of bugs and insects using a microscope
  • Build simple machines using pulleys and levers and catapult Sid’s toys into his toy box
  • Test the laws of motion with a skateboard
  • Climb into Sid’s treehouse  (photo op alert!)
  • Learn to make healthy food choices by raiding Sid’s pantry and “baking cookies”
  • Invent their own “Super-Duper-Ooper-Schmooper Big Idea”

Visit on one of the following dates and you and your budding genius can meet Sid LIVE in person!*

*Sid will be on hand to greet his guests in person on Mar 19-20, Mar 22-25, May 7, and May 14-15. Meet-and-greets generally run from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Parents should check at the Welcome Desk upon arrival for the exact location and time.
