Sometimes you just want a swanky steakhouse experience without the steak.
Cast your sights on the Oceanaire Seafood Room, which just opened at the Shops at Riverside in Hackensack. Occupying the former McCormick & Schmidt’s space, Oceanaire has a sleek and sophisticated blue neon art deco vibe, high-backed booths, an extensive wine list, impeccable service, unbelievably exceptional food- and obviously someone was thinking of *us* when they hooked up valet service so we didn’t have to teeter through the parking lot.
Owned by the Landry restaurant group (who also owns Morton’s Steakhouse), the restaurant seats just under 200 people. On a recent visit we noted that the bar area was hopping (hello, awesomely reasonable Happy Hour Menu available from 4-7) and we couldn’t help but ogle the private room behind glass for 10 people that’s topped by a fabulous chandelier. Order off the menu for an amazing private birthday dinner or special event.
Our dinner was a 5-star experience. You can either kick back at the raw bar and be entertained by the oyster shucking, or sit at a private table and feel like the King and Queen of the sea. The food was amazing- we devoured the Australian Barramundi “Dynamite”, and Dayboat Jumbo Sea Scallops Grilled with Lemon and White Wine. Voted one of the best seafood restaurants in the country, Oceanaire only offers the freshest sustainably caught fish they can find, flown in daily from around the world.
