Have you ever had a sitter lined up, ready to make dinner reservations with friends or your spouse, but you get stuck on what kind of food you're in the mood for or have trouble getting the group to agree? If you're nodding yes, there's a new chef in town (at least a nearby town) cooking up eclectic, delicious dishes that change on the reg. And lucky for us, it's just short drive away.
The Dining Room, which recently opened in Blauvelt, NY, is your new go to when you know you want a good meal, but don't know what kind. With Executive Chef Gregory Stott at the helm (you may know him from his time as a semifinalist on Food Network's Chopped) this New American resto isn't dedicated to one specific type of cuisine, so you can always find a range of dishes from Bao Buns with shrimp tempura to Housemade Gnocchi — yes, it's made from scratch.
The space itself perfectly blends a mix of stylish design with a casual, inviting feel. You can sit at one of its tables — the restaurant can seat up to 65 — or grab a spot, if you're lucky, at the full bar where you can enjoy a glass of wine or delicious cocktail. There's plenty to feast on, too. Enjoy appetizers like comforting French Onion Soup, Crispy Duck Wings, or Wood-Fired Meatballs. While these dishes are ideal for sharing, leave room for entrees like Short Rib Raviolini and Horseradish Crusted Salmon.
If you have the chance to get out during the day, head to The Dining Room for brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11 am-3 pm, and enjoy a not-so-standard dish like Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Stuffed French Toast, or Chicken & Waffles. Or, veer on the side of lunch with their Crispy Chicken Bao Buns, Autum Cobb Salad, or Frenchie (roasted turkey and brie). And as if you need another excuse to book your reservation, The Dining Room is hosting a Valentine's Day dinner with specials like Jumbo Scallops and Lobster Ravioli, plus sweet desserts (think: profiteroles and Tahitian vanilla creme brulee) for the sweetest day of the year.
