New Mom Perks and Education at Jewish Baby U (dedicated)

Wellness  /

You’re going to have a baby! Mazel tov! If the advice and anecdotes haven’t started yet, brace yourself. You’re going to get lots of information and opinions from almost everyone you know. To help you sort through it all, and to help you and your significant other determine how you want to share your Jewish faith with your children, Kaplen JCC on the Palisades has developed Jewish Baby U: Childbirth Education with a Jewish Twist.

Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, in partnership with Englewood Health, is offering this 10-hour childbirth course in order to help couples who are committed to raising their baby in the Jewish faith. This program is intended to help parents-to-be build their community through a network of friends and families who share similar values.

For two hours a week for five weeks, you will learn not only childbirth basics but you will also explore your Jewish heritage, traditions and rituals as they relate to pregnancy, birth and parenting.

Jewish Baby U is a new program with a curriculum that includes:

-          Child Birthing Classes

-          A tour of Englewood Health’s Family Birth Place

-          Prenatal Nutrition and how to stay healthy taught by a practitioner from the Graf Center for Integrative Medicine

-          Prenatal Exercise taught by certified instructors from Kaplen JCC

-          Lactation Education

-          Infant Care and Infant CPR taught by the Englewood Health EMS

This program is unique in that an educator from Kaplen JCC will also cover topics related to Judaism including:

-          An Introduction to Judaism

-          Building a Jewish Home

-          Jewish Names and Naming Ceremonies

-          Building Your Jewish Community

You will receive Jewish books, preregistration in the PJ Library, and two-month access to the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Heath & Wellness facilities when you register.
