If there's one class that every tot needs in their Fall roster, it's a really fun, lively music class, complete with engaging teachers, lots of smiles, belly laughs and bopping to the beat. But besides the obvious, a great music class will help with some serious brain development too (hello language skills and muscle building!). For a fun introduction to the performing arts for kids ages 3 months to six years, start them out with music classes at The Early Childhood Program at the Performing Arts School at bergenPAC. In the Early Childhood Program, your child will enjoy their first music, dance and theater classes and lay the foundation to create lifelong learners of the arts. Interactive, movement based, age appropriate classes for children ages 3 months to six years will start your child on their path to performing arts appreciation and mastery.
For your littlest musician, bergenPAC offers Early Childhood Music, a 45-minute weekly program that allows parents or caregivers to spend time and bond with their children and discover the wonder and joy of music through chants, finger plays, and small and large movements. They will use a mix of traditional and contemporary songs from around the world and a variety of developmentally appropriate musical instruments. As they grow, they can listen to and play their favorite instruments, follow beats and patterns in a drum circle, and sing along with the guitar in a Musical Moments class. Or, they can learn the basics of proper posture, breathing and vocal techniques as they perform in unison or in 2-part harmony in the Young Voices ensemble.
If you’ve got a drama queen (or king) on your hands, register them for Creative Drama Tots. This introduction to theater uses creative storytelling as a way to help support your child’s social, emotional, cognitive and creative play skills. Through the course of putting their imagination and stories into action, they will also develop and practice crucial language skills.
And finally, for your tiny dancer, bergenPAC offers Early Childhood Dance for children ages 18 months to 5 years old. In these classes, children develop coordination, strength, flexibility and focus. Mommy and Me Movement classes are designed as an age appropriate introduction to the exciting world of dance.
