Okay, yes. It’s been a long time coming. And yes, you’ve heard a lot about it. But there are a few things about the new American Dream that are, well…dreamy. And since the doors of the American Dream Mall are opening on October 25th, it’s time you really start to think about when and how you’re going to get there to check it out.
Shopping at American Dream doesn’t happen until March 2020, but so much is happening before the 250 retailers (ranging from Uniglo and Zara to Moncler and Saks) and 100 dining destinations open their doors that you’re going to be an old pro at finding parking well before shopping enters the mix.
Set an alarm in your calendar for Friday October 25th. That’s when both the Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park (the largest indoor theme park in the Western Hemisphere) and The Rink at American Dream (an NHL-regulation size ice rink) open. The theme park will have over 35 attractions including three world record breaking coasters and a nine-story ropes course. It will also, of course, have lots of slime. The Rink is planning a Spooky Skate for Thursday, October 31st that will include a pumpkin pick-and-paint, face painting and Fall-tivities.
Then, just in time to answer the annual post-Thanksgiving “what do we do with the kids for the rest of the weekend” question, the Dreamworks Water park will open their doors. Because nothing says bathing suit season like going to a waterpark after a nice big Thanksgiving dinner. The Dreamworks park will have over 40 water slides and 15 attractions including a wave pool, lazy river or the world’s tallest body slide. Most importantly for moms, the 31 luxury cabanas were designed by Jonathan Adler! Squee!
To complete your swim in, ski out experience, grab your board or your skis and head to BIG SNOW on December 5th. Yes, the ski slope that launched a thousand memes is actually opening. Take a break from the Hallmark Holiday Classics and instead, get in the holiday spirit at North America’s only indoor real-snow park. Private lessons, coaching and kids camps will all be available when BIG SNOW opens.
None of this, however, is the dreamiest part of American Dream. That honor goes to the fact that you can visit all these world class attractions, shops and restaurants and then, when you’re tired, you can head back to your cozy home and sleep in your own bed. That, friends, is worth the price of admission right there.
