Looking for a cool new activity to keep your kids from climbing the walls this summer? Try encouraging them to, well, actually climb the walls. At the new rock climbing and extreme sport facility High Exposure, slated to open its super-size location in Northvale this month, kids of all ages (and their parents, too!) can get vertical on 14,000 square feet of candy-colored climbing terrain. And staff instructors (including American Ninja Warrior Henry Ferrarin, who will be running the upcoming summer camp programs) are ready to show them how it’s done – from top roping 40 feet up (with a harness and partner) to bouldering low walls before jumping into protective padding, chances are no one will get bored at this new indoor play space, perfect for beating the summer heat. For kids who’d prefer to stay a little closer to the ground, there’s the Action Adventure Room, where they can tackle an ever-changing obstacle course, swing from lache bars, or leap into a foam pit. As for the little guys (5 and under), there’s an imagination play area that features blackboards for drawing, tents for camping, a mini-grocery store for pretend shopping, and costumes for giving their alter egos a spin.
Adults, meanwhile, can take Warrior Strength Training classes (great for that upcoming mud run you’ve got on the calendar) or sign up for a variety of other fitness classes – from Zumba to Pole Dancing to Aerial Yoga practiced in luxe silk hammocks. Climbing day passes and climbers workout classes are also available for those who prefer their exercise on the rocks. Afterwards, you can finish up with a well-deserved trip to the onsite latte and smoothie bar.
And if you can’t stomach the thought of throwing yet another pool party this summer, a fitness fiesta might be just the ticket.
