Hard to believe it’s been more than two decades since a fledgling author named J.K. Rowling introduced the first Harry Potter novel to the world. Since then, she’s become a gazillionaire, he’s become one of the most famous protagonists in modern literature, and you and your kids have likely read the books, seen the movies, and maybe even hit the Broadway show or one of the theme parks. Next up: the world’s first official Harry Potter flagship store, right here in Manhattan. The iconic retail venue will be located right next to an iconic landmark – the Flatiron Building – and while it’s not the only HP-themed retail store in existence, it’s set to be the biggest. The space will clock in at three floors and 20,000 square feet, dedicated to the witches and wizards who’ve captivated us for years.
According to Warner Bros., the store will house the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts products in existence with stuff like personalized robes and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans. Also expect themed food offerings of coffee, ice cream, and that beloved “butterbeer,” along with interactive experiences and photo opps. Look for the store to open this summer ... just in time for you kid to insist on donning one of those heavy black robes when it’s 90 degrees out.
