With the kids off from school during summer break, we’re always on the lookout for kid-friendly activities that will keep them entertained, engaged, and off the couch (and if it’s educational to boot, even better!). So when we heard about Ocean Cube, a fantastic new aquatic-themed pop-up exhibit in NYC, we instantly added it to our arsenal.
Ocean Cube is like spending an afternoon under the sea, minus the snorkeling gear. Guests are transported to a futuristic waterworld, where coral reefs become traffic tunnels, luminescent jellyfish and whales become transportation portals, and shopping malls are made of pearls and bubbles. Not only will it have your little mermaids and aquamen ooh-ing, aah-ing, and, of course, Instagramming, but also teach them important lessons about pollution, ocean conservation, and their impact on the environment.
It’s a great way to spend a summertime hour or two. When the kids are ready to come up for air, there’s always plenty more to explore (and shop!) in the nearby SoHo and West Village neighborhoods.
Ocean Cube runs daily through August 18, 10am to 8pm, at 60 Grand St. in New York City. CLICK HERE to purchase tickets online.
