Get Dirty at the Family-Friendly MuckFest Mud Run

Wellness  /

It can be hard to stray from the same old summer activities: You know, camp, pool, beach, repeat. But we’ve got a new and novel family-fun activity that needs to be on your summer agenda: MuckFest, a 5K mud run with 18 obstacles that’s both grownup-and-kid-friendly.

MuckFest events go on all over the country but makes its muddy way to the great state of NJ on Saturday, July 20th, setting up the course in Somerset. The event is all about fun with rocking music, goofy warmup routines, a Masters of Shenanigans, and of course, lots of thick, mucky mud. Afterwards, stick around for the post-mud “fest” part of the day with mingling, beers, and debating over who had the most impressive wipeout. Kids 10 and up can participate in the full-on race and there’s also Lil’ Muckers play area that will keep kids 5 years and older occupied.

The best part? Muckfest works in partnership with the National MS Society. Muckfest participants and volunteers have raised more than $30 million for the nonprofit to date. Check out how to get in on the fundraising here.

Whether you decide to get down and dirty or just cheer on your crew, the event sounds like it’s going to be one hot mess of a hoot. And race organizers are giving Bergen Mama readers 10 percent off the registration fee. Just enter the code BERGEN for 10% off when you sign up. Family fun + good cause + discount = We’re in.
