If you’re looking to shake up your shopping routine this summer (and pick up some cool new threads while you’re at it), we’ve got the news you’ve been waiting for: After a serious renovation, the hip shopping, dining, and residential complex City Place in Edgewater is about to have its big reveal. The open-air center on the Hudson is chock full of fave stores like Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Metromix, and Ulta Beauty and eateries including Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Bareburger, and Greek Taverna along with go-to quickie spots like Panera Bread and Chipotle. It basically looks like it’s going to be the perfect warm-weather hangout.
To kick off its grand re-opening and new expanded outdoor areas, City Place is hosting two days of family-friendly activities and entertainment focused on waterfront fun.
The evening of Friday, June 16 and all day Saturday, June 17, there will be a photo booth, games, food sampling, and a Discover Deck, where the kids can paint clamshells, get temporary tattoos, and learn about what lies beneath the river’s waters. The aquarium tent will have touch tanks with cool stuff like shells, sea stars, oysters, and more. On Friday night only, expect a ribbon cutting, dance performances, and a live reggae band. (free registration and more info here) City Place is known for its open air spaces and dramatic vistas that the Hudson River provides, so this event will be benefitting NY/NJ Baykeeper (the citizen guardian of the NY-NJ Harbor Estuary) to bring awareness to our community on river conservation and the many aquatic creatures that keep the Hudson River healthy and clean.
The activities are all free. Sadly, anything you buy during your shopping spree is not. Sigh.
