Wouldn't it be great to know that the food we enjoy doesn't just taste good, but is also good for you and the environment? This food ideal is at the heart of Fiorentini, a true farm-to-table restaurant serving up authentic Italian dishes in Rutherford, NJ. Fiorentini works with local farmers using the most sustainable and regenerative farming practices, focusing on the health of their soils. "[We are] dedicated to the triple bottom line -- planet, people and profit -- and our team aspires to make our eatery as environmentally conscious as possible," says Brenda de leso, co-owner with her husband Antonio, who also helms the kitchen as head chef.
This philosophy carries through to Fiorentini's interior design concept, where the dining room transports you to a tranquil greenery, with recycled wood covering the floors and ceilings. Their open kitchen design with island allows you watch as the Chef Antonio and team prepare your drool-inducing food.
Fiorentini's focus on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients grown in the healthiest soil conditions brings together the organic, seasonal menu. For starters, sink your teeth into their fresh Poached Pear Salad, prepared with homemade ricotta, spicy candied pecans, sunflower seeds and truffle jus; enjoy the Mediterranean Octupus with potato-chorizo croquette and bbq popcorn; or try their healthy, fresh Farm Beets.
Entrées include a balance of unique, homemade pastas plus dishes by sea and by land. Pasta lovers will enjoy their Spaghetti Chitarra or Tagliatelle, both made from scratch in their kitchen. Wild Halibut, NJ Natural Farm Chicken and Lima Farm Bavette Steak round out the fall menu. But be sure to save room for dessert. Some of their traditional Italian sweets with a twist include Tiramisu with carmelized banana, Panna Cotta and Chef Made Bomboloncini Toscani filled with chocolate cream.
